Cultural Heritage and Tourism in Climate Change

Adaptation Processes Towards More Sustainable Societies

Cultural Heritage and Tourism in Climate Change Adaptation Processes: Towards More Sustainable Societies is an international conference devoted to exploring the role of cultural heritage and tourism in climate change adaptation. Taking place in Macerata from 29 June to 3 July 2026, the event brings together professors, researchers, international partners and students to discuss strategies, practices and innovative models for building more sustainable societies.

Through thematic sessions on cultural management, geography, landscape, environment, agricultural engineering, urban economics, law and business, the conference promotes an interdisciplinary dialogue on the challenges that climate change poses to territories, cultural institutions and tourism destinations. The programme also includes field visits, student working groups and opportunities for discussion, encouraging the exchange of experiences and perspectives among the universities and communities involved.

The conference is promoted by the University of Macerata in collaboration with its international academic partners and networks, including UNIADRION, ERUA – European Reform University Alliance, the Erasmus+ Programme, the University “St Kliment Ohridski” of Bitola, the University “Džemal Bijedić” of Mostar, the University of Split and the University of Ioannina.
