Evaluation Questionnaires on Teaching

Help us improve our study courses organisation by carefully answering the online questionnaires required by MUR (Italian Ministry of University and Research) and ANVUR (National Agency of Evaluation of the Italian University and Reseach System)

How to fill in questionnaires

Is the questionnaire anonymous?

Yes, anonymity is guaranteed by recording students’ answers in an archive without any reference to student's identity.

Is it mandatory to answer the questionnaire?

Yes, in order to book for an exam. If you take the same exam more than once, you will not be required to answer the questionnaire again.

What is the purpose of the questionnaire?

It is essential for the University Quality Assurance system (QA) in order to identify critical aspects and areas for improvement. The questionnaire allows students to express their opinions on course contents, teacher's behaviour, teaching aids, facilities and services provided by the University.

Who is the questionnaire for?

  • Students – as a means to express their degree of satisfaction with the delivery and organisation of expected teaching, comparing the teaching quality they expect with the teaching quality they the perceive one.
  • Teachers – as a means to find out how students perceive the quality of their teaching.
  • The study course – as a means to identify strengths and weaknesses in order to implement actions aimed at improving teaching and the general organisation of study courses.

Who has to fill in the questionnaire?

Only students who have regularly enrolled on degree courses, master's degrees courses or five-year degrees courses can answer to answer the questionnaire, regardless of whether they are attending or not classes.

When is it recommended to fill in the questionnaire?

In case of attending students, they have to answer questionnaires after having attended at least alf of course lessons.

How do I access and save the questionnaire?

You can access to the online questionnaire implemented on the ESSE3 portal (a university studies management system provided by CINECA):

  • Go to the https://studenti.unimc.it/ website
  • Click on ‘Login’ using your username and password
  • Click on ‘Evaluation Questionnaires on Teaching’ to view the list of courses in your online booklet linked to a questionnaire. The last column, called ‘Val.’, shows the availbale questionnaire status for each course (green = you have answered it; yellow = you have partially answered it; red = you have not answered it yet).
  • Click on the red or yellow icon to go to the first page of the questionnaire, where you can provide your evaluation of your class attendance or the reasons for not attending classes.When you have replied, confirm the information you have provided.

How is the questionnaire structured?

Questions:

  1. Is your preliminary knowledge adequate to understand topics in the exam programmes? Comment on the question: This question aims at establishing whether the course professor has planned any introductory and/or supplementary activities in case student's preliminary knowledge is inadequate to understand the exam topics.
  2. Is study load proportionate to credits awarded?
  3. Is teaching material (recommended and available) suited to studying the subject?
  4. Has exam structure been clearly outlined?
  5. Has timing of classes, practical classes and other teaching activities been kept to schedule? Comment on the question: This question relates to with scheduled timetable and teacher punctuality.
  6. Does the teacher arouse/promote interest in the subject?
  7. Does the teacher explain topics clearly?
  8. Are additional teaching activities (practical classes, tutorials, workshops/laboratory classes, etc.) useful to study the subject? Comment on the question: It is necessary to answer the question if the course includes specific supplementary teaching activities.
  9. Has teaching been consistent with course presentation on the Website?.
  10. Is the teacher available for further help and clarification? Comment on the question: ‘May students contact teachers for explanations and clarifications?’

    This question aims at establishing whether the professor is available for explanations and clarifications required by students within a reasonable time.

  11. Are course topics interesting?Comment on the question: The question aims at finding out about student interest about the topics studied during classes.

Which teaching activities should I evaluate?

All teaching activities linked to the name of a permanent teaching professor, providing 4 or more ECTS and which end with an exam or an idoneative test.

Can I skip a question?

Yes, if the question relates to a service that the course does not offer (e.g., for a course that does not offer any additional e-learning service, you have to skip questions about to that service).

Are the results of the questionnaires made public?

They are available, anonymously and in aggregated form by study course, under the heading ‘Students' Opinions’ in the quality section of the study course website.

Who can log in and analyses the results of the questionnaire?

  • The Quality Assurance Body (PQA)
  • The Evaluation Committee (NdV)
  • The Joint Teachers-Students Committee (CPDS)
  • The Class Council
  • The Quality Assurance Group (QA)
  • The course teacher

Who should I contact if I have technical problems that prevent me from completing the questionnaire?

You can report the problem to the HelpDesk from the following link: https://infostudenti.unimc.it/.
