Research freedom refers to the right and opportunity for researchers to explore, investigate, and develop ideas and theories without outside interference or restriction, such as political, financial, or ideological censorship. This is a fundamental principle for ensuring scientific independence and the advancement of knowledge. 

Research freedom allows researchers to pursue their research in an open and critical manner, contributing to the advancement of scientific innovation and discoveries. 

The University of Macerata is actively committed to promoting research freedom, adhering to the principles of important European-level documents on the subject and organizing raising-awareness events.
