Theories, Cultures and Techniques for the Social Services

The Course focuses on subjects related to professional roles within the social services. The modules enable students to learn and experiment different approaches for providing support in case of personal and social hardship in connection to minors and 'vulnerable' individuals by means of a work placement also in charities operating in the public and sectors. The goal is to develop the theoretical and organizational competencies required to implement social policies with particular emphasis on the ethics and methodology peculiar to the social care practitioner.

The course offers the opportunity to pursue a career as a Social Worker (prior passing the professional qualifying exam) and to work in agencies and charities operating in the public and private sector.

Students holding a secondary school-leaving qualification or equivalent foreign qualification, validated in line with existing laws, may enrol in the undergraduate course 'Theories, Cultures and Techniques for the Social Services’. Applicants should be capable of speaking and writing proficiently. In addition, they should have an understanding of cultural processes, current political, economic and social issues, historical events, and social and political change in continental Europe, philosophy and maths. An adequate background education is required.
