The Master's degree course in Philosophical Studies promotes an understanding and awareness of competencies in the main branches of philosophical research such as its theory and applications (theoretics, ethics, epistemology, language, anthropology, aesthetics and politics), history (ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary philosophy) and the humanities (psychology and pedagogy). Due to the array of Modules students have the opportunity to tailor the course to fit their employment needs and interests.

With regards to career opportunities, the Master’s degree course in Philosophical Studies enables students to find employment as secondary school teachers (provided Modules are carefully chosen, the undergraduate degree course coupled with this Master’s degree course offered by the University of Macerata overall ensure students gain all credits required to teach subjects identified by codes A-18 and A-19). Moreover, students may take up positions of responsibility in several sectors such as publishing, social services, agencies involved in promoting, managing and planning cultural events in the public and private sector, press offices and cross-media communication, public relation service and staff management.

To be admitted applicants are to meet specific academic requirements and to have an adequate personal level of knowledge. Applicants holding a degree in class L-5-Philosophy and class 29-Philosophy have open access to the course as their prior learning career is deemed adequate. Applicants holding a degree in other fields, be they issued according to prior or existing regulations, may be admitted to the Master’s degree course provided they meet specific course requirements.
