Languages liaison studies

This course offers the opportunity to study in-depth three foreign languages, both European and Non-European, as means of interlinguistic and intercultural communication tools to be chosen among a total of seven languages available: Arabic, Chinese, French, English, Russian, Spanish and German. The programme aims to promote the development of technical skills needed to produce accurate specialized translations and to provide liaison interpreting in commercial settings. Moreover, it enables students to master languages for specific purposes and the analytical linguistic tools needed to gain full awareness of communication processes, text production and reception.

The Language Liaison Studies degree course is designed for careers in: specialized translation and commercial negotiation liaison; positions of responsibility in enterprises, public and private agencies with regard to international relations as language and cultural liaison assistants, document management, community and business promotion. Upon completion of the undergraduate degree course students may wish to proceed at postgraduate level enrolling on the two-year Master’s course in Modern Languages for International Communication and Cooperation (Class code LM-38).

Requirements for this course are:

  • Language level equivalent to B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference in French, English, Spanish and German by taking an assessment test;
  • Adequate grammar, syntactical and lexical competence in Italian by taking an assessment test.

The above tests are compulsory for students holding a secondary school-leaving qualification with a mark under 70/100. Entry requirements shall be fully met if they pass the above language tests in Italian and one foreign language among: French, English, Spanish and German. Starting from the academic year following year of enrollment students who do not pass the above tests and do not meet entry requirements are not allowed to take exams.
