MUR - National Research Programme (NRP)
The National Research Programme (NRP) is the document that guides research policy in Italy by identifying priorities, objectives and actions aimed at supporting the coherence, efficiency and effectiveness of the national research system.
The system priorities of the PNR 2021-2027 are:
- Support the widespread and inclusive growth of the research system;
- Consolidate fundamental research;
- Strengthen interdisciplinary research;
- Ensure the centrality of the individual in innovation;
- Enhance the circulation of knowledge and skills between the research world and the production system;
- Accompany the development of a new generation of researchers, technologists and knowledge transfer professionals;
- Promote the international dimension of higher education and research;
- Ensure the coordination of national, European, and international research;
- Toward the new horizons of research.
The major areas of research and innovation use the six aggregations of Horizon Europe as a framework. The six areas are in turn declined into areas of intervention that the MUR has identified consistent with the specificities of the national context:
