Joint Programming
Joint Programming is a procedure for redressing imbalances between the European or global scope of current challenges and the national or regional nature of the tools available to solve these problems.
The scope of interest for Joint Programming is mainly related to public research programmes and a small number of research areas, to be defined during the development of the Joint Programming process, that have a European or global dimension, such as environment, energy, health, etc.

Italy participates in these initiatives with input from all relevant technical ministries coordinated by the MUR and in particular has overall coordination of the JPI on Cultural Heritage and Global Change.
Joint programmes under Article 185 TFEU
Actions undertaken under Article 185 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) aim to integrate parts of national programmes for the joint implementation, together with the Commission, of a true European research agenda.
