Curricula: Philosophy / Philosophy and Society

This course is designed to promote the study of philosophy through its main branches of study (theoretical, moral, epistemological, linguistic, anthropological, aesthetical and political philosophy) and of the history of philosophy (ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary philosophy). It is enhanced with modules in psychology and pedagogy. Its structure comprises two learning pathways offering a wide variety of modules with the aim of: (1) developing the conceptual and practical knowledge needed to access several employment areas; (2) enhancing student interests and needs. The learning pathway ‘Philosophy’ provides basic theoretical and historical insights, while the learning pathway ‘Philosophy and Society’ draws on the area of socio-economics focusing on applied philosophy.

The three-year course is designed to prepare students for a career in several professional sectors in traditional and multimedia publishing, culture promotion, public and private event organization and projects public administration.

No entry and/or orientation test is needed, but some specific requirements are to be met:

  1. In the case of: a secondary school-leaving qualification mark equal or above 70/100 and prior learning including philosophy as a leaning pathway option, entry requirements are fully met.
  2. In the case of a qualification mark below standard or prior learning not including philosophy:
  • Applicants from secondary schools that offer philosophy as a subject option must attend at least 50% of classes in the Introduction to Philosophy Workshop ;
  • Applicants from secondary schools that do not offer philosophy as a subject option must attend at least 70% of classes in the Introduction to Philosophy Workshop in their first year.
