Data Analysis for Social Sciences

Bachelor’s Degree / Class Code L-41 / ISCED code 0542
Anno Accademico 2024/2025
distance learning services

The aim of the course is to produce graduates with a solid grounding in the organization, management, and analysis of data in relation to the fundamentals of mathematics and computer science as well as methodological and applied statistics. The curriculum also incorporates social science courses, which explore the intersection with humanities courses, in order to establish a connection with the social aspects of information and normative issues, the problems posed by new information and communication technologies, and those linked to the application of data analysis, while understanding how to identify the ethical implications.

The aim of the course is to train graduates who can work as data analysts: one of the most sought-after figures in the workplace: IT and telecommunications, credit and insurance institutions, e-commerce, transport and logistics, pharmaceutical companies, research institutes and public administration. Graduates will be able to apply their knowledge across a range of environments, including in companies, institutions, or NGOs, and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of team, in national and international contexts.

An adequate level of prior knowledge is required, which will be tested by means of TOLC (CISIA online test). This is not a limited access course, consequently, any student scoring below the minimum threshold established by the programme can still enrol but additional educational activities will be guaranteed to compensate for any gaps (so-called additional educational obligations - OFA). These activities must be completed within the first year of the course. For more information about the various types of TOLC and minimum thresholds please consult the page TOLC Types and Minimum Thresholds.
