Short description: SAVE-EU consists of a teaching and learning activity to deepen, by an interdisciplinary and comparative approach, the role of State aid discipline in protecting the vulnerable environment and fighting against climate change in the European Union. The Module aims to implement the Erasmus+ Programme priority on “environment and fight against climate change” by strengthening teaching and learning on the State aid legal framework, which – according to the most recent EU legislative initiatives - could act as a fundamental tool to help Member States and industries to reach the Green Deal objectives in a targeted and cost effective manner. SAVE-EU is articulated in three teaching modules and one dissemination module in 36 months. The activities will be devoted to: i) reconstruct the evolutionary path of the public authorities’ role in both economic and environmental matters, verifying the adequacy of the most recent regulatory arrangements especially as the so-called Circular State and Ecological State are concerned; ii) take account of the environmental and climate crisis and analyse the role played by public bodies and private parties, also in the perspective of State aid and remedies; iii) analyse the State aid legal framework especially in order to examine where in the next future such a discipline could strengthen the role of industry in mitigating the environmental and climate crisis according to the EU targets. One of the most innovative aspects of the SAVE-EU teaching strategy is the combination of two topics that scholars have traditionally taught separately (i.e. State aid and environmental issues), as well as the involvement of knowledge coming from different fields of study (law, economics, history). Moreover, in order to maximize the visibility and the impact of the project, a wide media coverage will be ensured. SAVE-EU will benefit from the support of a wide network of scholars, institutions and industries.
