LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The course introduces participants to historical research while familiarising them with memory resources, such as the tools and the institutions whereby a community preserves its memory. Information and telecommunication technology are crucial to historical research. Students are engaged in workshops to master Internet resources and applications, and to access data bases for historical research. In addition to meetings, seminars and events organized on campus, the course includes a work placement with local institutions seeking graduates with a competence in history, and also excavation field work on archaeological sites in Italy and abroad supervised by members of the course teaching staff.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Students have a wide range of work opportunities in positions of responsibility in central and local government, in services related to culture and the conservation of local communities, but also in archival centres, libraries, museums, cultural institutions, culture promoting trusts, public and private research centres, specialist publishing related to historical culture or to activity in service industries or intercultural liaison, as well as in public administration.
