UNIMC Welcomes St. Cloud State University Students

(May 15, 2017) – Seven students from St. Cloud State University led by professor Dr. Christine Imbra were welcomed by University of Macerata host, Professoressa Paola Nicolini, to the University of Macerata as they begin their short-term stay in Macerata. Made up of doctoral and master’s students studying the field of higher education, the St. Cloud State University delegation will be here for two weeks studying higher education in Italy from professionals at the University of Macerata. The doctoral students include Soheyl Missaghi, Amber Fryklund, Jessica Gehrke, and Joi Sampson. The master’s students include Laura Manuel, Erika Perry, and Lauren Kelba. In addition, Dr. Steven McCullar, the Program Director and Assistant Professor of the Higher Education Administration graduate program at St. Cloud State University, is a participant conducting a course on qualitative research and the Open Badges Project.

While in Macerata, the St. Cloud State University students will study the Italian language, Italian culture, and Italian higher education. They will also participate in internships with professionals from the University of Macerata working in the President’s Office for Communications; the Orientation Office, Department of Humanities, Linguistics, and Cultural Studies; the University Press; the University Sports Office; and the Italian-American Cultural Center. Outside of scheduled activities, the students plan to explore Macerata with tours of Marche Polytechnic University, Florence, and the city of Senigallia.

The St. Cloud State University students are part of an exchange program formed in collaboration between Dr. Imbra and Professoressa Nicolini. Before the St. Cloud State University delegation’s arrival to Macerata, Dr. Imbra welcomed four doctoral students from the University of Macerata and Professoressa Nicolini to St. Cloud State University for four weeks participating in a similar schedule. Professoressa Nicolini was the keynote speaker at the Spring Leadership Institute at St. Cloud State University on April 21, 2017. The Macerata delegation returned simultaneously as the St. Cloud State University delegation arrived to Macerata.
