Research

The University of Macerata promotes scholarly research as a factor of cultural growth and socio-economic innovation. Research in the humanities goes hand in hand with technological development. In a context of internationalisation and cooperation, the University wants to become increasingly involved in establishing networks of excellence in specific fields. At the same time, it is keen to strengthen its regional connections especially to support local businesses and institutions.

The University has been involved in many projects sponsored by the Italian government and is increasing its presence in projects funded by the European Union, which testifies to the diverse range of interests encompassed by the University. UNIMC has co-ordinated more than 50 Italian research projects of national interest and has been a partner in several other projects covering all the areas of the humanities and social sciences, boosting its presence in international research networks, primarily in Europe, but also beyond.

In order to promote and increase the visibility of research outcomes produced by UNIMC, a dynamic local university press (eum – Edizioni Università di Macerata) has been set up, which publishes monographs, journals and e-books.

Macerata has several libraries stocking more than one million books. The University has a well-structured library system and the city boasts an outstanding Municipal Library and a well-stocked State Library.

Here you will find information about research activities and services, Departments and Research Centres, libraries, funding opportunities, conferences and seminars as well as legislation promoting know-how transfer strategies and the setting up of spin-off companies.
